A holistic facial is a gentle treatment, which combines the techniques of a traditional facial with the therapeautic effects of holistic massage. A holistic facial isn't just about treating the skin, but more about treating the person as a "whole".
A holistic facial avoids the use of harsh or invasive procedures, but instead uses a variety of traditional massage techniques to increase circulation, remove toxins and stimulate blood flow to the face and head, which keeps the skin looking healthy. It’s also great for releasing tension, headaches, sinus congestion and relieving stress.
Your skin is a reflection of everything that’s going on inside your body and as your largest organ, the skin needs to maintain correct balance to function optimally. From emotional stress and hormonal imbalances to diet, lifestyle and pollution - your skin is constantly trying to balance itself against internal and external factors, which is why a holistic approach to skin care is so important.
The treatment begins with warm aromatherapy infused cloths used to cleanse the feet. A special aromatherapy balm will be applied to the soles of your feet and the pulse points on your wrists. The therapist will use crystal infused products by Palm of Feronia to gently cleanse and tone the skin, before applying a deep glow facial oil. The treatment uses gentle hands-on techniques including an acupressure based face and head massage, some facial reflexology and also the gua sha method. Gua Sha is a traditional Chinese treatment, which uses a variety of smooth crystal tools to lightly stroke the face in order to relieve muscular tension and stimulate the movement of energy (or chi) around the face and head area.
Catriona has Oncology massage training, so all massage and reflexology treatments can be tailored to suit clients going through cancer treatment or who have been through treatment for cancer.
